This beautiful stone is mined in a small area in Siberia and is a result is rare and therefore expensive. It is a particular form of clinchlore a member of the chlorite group. The name is dervied from the resemblance of feathers in the stone. The word Seraph is from Isaiah 6 in the Hebrew Testament, and refers to winged angelic beings in the service of God. It is a dark green to grey colour, has chatoyancy, and a Mohs hardness between 2 and 4. Sometimes with an obvious pattern, sometimes not.
