Golden Obsidian Dragon

Golden Sheen Obsidian is a variety of Obsidian which is volcanic glass,  found primarily in Mexico. Obsidian belongs to the silicate group of minerals with a hardness of 5 to 5.5 on the Mohs scale of hardness. The stone gets its name from the shimmering gold flecks within the dark glassy surface. This effect is created when tiny particles of Hematite become included during the formation process. Its iridescence is created by small inclusions of water vapour bubbles trapped inside the black volcanic glass, as the cooling lava contracts. The bubbles reflect back the light as a metallic gold or silver.
