Crow carving in UV reactive Yooperlite. Yooperlites are Syenites rich in fluorescent Sodalite, found on Lake Superior beaches in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. It was formed about 1.1 billion years ago. Discovered by Erik Rintamaki in 2017, he combined the nickname “Yooper” (someone from the U>P>) and “sodalite” to create the name.
